CLL Softball

Drills and Skills Clinics

Feb. 18 and Feb. 26
1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

(Check in starts at 12:30 p.m.)

Sunday, Feb 26th will be cold so we'll be inside most of the afternoon in the batting cages

Please join us at one or both of our upcoming Drills and Skills Clinics for CLL Softball. Attendance at one of these events is required for all CLL Softball players. If you cannot make either event please email softball@corvallislittleleague. We have an evening make-up event planned as well and will finalize that date soon. No advance registration is required, please show up early so we can check you in.

The Drills and Skills Clinics are designed to introduce new players to the sport and get returning players back in the swing before the season kicks off. The drills portion gives new players a chance to see what they'll be doing at practices. The skills portion gives players a chance to work on softball skills and learn how to continue practicing those at home. This is also an opportunity for our coaches to evaluate what level a player might be best suited for, especially with the overlap in age eligibility at the Minors and Majors levels.

We encourage players to bring a friend and help spread softball love. It also gives parents an opportunity to meet many of our volunteer coaches, get questions answered about practices, games and equipment.

These events are open to all registered players and those considering playing. First timers are more than welcome and again, we encourage every player to bring a friend. Spring registration has been extended to close on Feb 28 at midnight and we're hoping you can spread the word and help grow our softball program this year!

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my player need her equipment by then?

We will have extra gloves, bats, and helmets available. We'd encourage you to bring what you have but if you have questions about appropriate equipment, we'll be there to answer them. Our sponsor, Play it Again Sports (PIAS) has new and used softball equipment. Maggie at PIAS is a softballer and will help you with any questions you have. Cleats are optional at these clinics and no metal cleats are allowed.

Do I have to buy my own equipment?

Corvallis Little League provides uniform jerseys, visors, and socks. You will need to purchase pants and we recommend a belt. Coaches will let you know pant colors once teams are formed by March 1st. CLL provides each team with additional equipment including extra gloves, bats, helmets, catcher's gear, and more. We recommend cleats at all levels, fields are slippery when damp. Soccer, baseball, or softball cleats work and high ankle cleats offer increased protection both from twists and sprains and errant balls hitting the ankle.

What are the "Evaluations?"

Little League Softball levels are determined by player age but there is some crossover at the Minors and Majors level. We want to ensure players are at the correct level for their skill and ability. Also, when we field more than one team at a level, we are required to ensure those teams are balanced as much as possible. We also make every effort to pair siblings, consider car pool requests, geographic considerations, and more when creating teams.

What happens if my player can't attend any of the clinics or the make-up night?

Email us at [email protected]. We'll set up a time to connect.

Bring a Friend

Registration closes at on Feb. 28. We want every girl in Corvallis to get an opportunity to experience what softball has to offer. Softball teaches life lessons and here are 21 reasons to play.

Gear Exchange

Many players accumulate extra gear over the seasons and we intend to do a "gear exchange" before practices start. More to come on that.
